Work Experience at Graeae

Graeae provides a bespoke work experience programme for young Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people who emerge through our Young Company and through our partnerships with schools, colleges and universities.

With so many workplaces inaccessible for young disabled people, we work with schools, colleges and universities to advocate for access in the workplace and offer creative ways to learn and lead.

Our programme offers meaningful roles to young people, offering insight into working with a theatre company and leadership opportunities in creative learning environments.

This Spring, Marcus from our Young Company completed his work experience programme with us, adding a buzz of positivity and excellent vibes to our London office.

Marcus Wright-Malcolm

Each week Marcus worked with a different Graeae member learning about their area of work through conversations and practical activities. This included Stage Management, Sound Design, Finance, Fundraising, Marketing and Workshop Leadership and Design.

Marcus peer-facilitated workshops for young people as part of West London Inclusive Arts Festival at The Royal Albert Hall. On his final day with us, Marcus led a workshop with the Graeae team teaching us a new game that everyone loved so much we have asked if we can use that for future work. Marcus also learnt about marketing and created this piece ‘My Journey through Graeae’ you can check it out below.
