By Graeae Team, March, 14 2019

We are delighted to announce that our Artistic Director and CEO Jenny Sealey MBE has been nominated for a 2019 National Diversity Award, in the category of Positive Role Model: Disability.

Jenny has been Graeae’s Artistic Director since 1997. In this time, she’s moved the company to the iconic Bradbury Studios in Hoxton, coined the term “the aesthetics of access” to describe the creative embedding of sign language, audio description and captioning into all Graeae’s productions (since picked up by other production companies), edited Graeae’s first book Reasons to be Graeae, and directed many landmark productions for the company including Reasons to be Cheerful, The House of Bernarda Alba, This Is Not For You and Blasted.

Under Jenny’s leadership, Graeae have also trained up and developed the skills of many young and mid-career D/deaf and disabled artists with the Ensemble and Write to Play programmes.

Jenny also co-directed the London 2012 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony.
